QUESTION 1 · Algebra
Correct answer: C. 4
Subtract 3 from both sides: 2x = 8. Divide both sides by 2: x = 4. Check: 2(4) + 3 = 11.
QUESTION 2 · Percentages
Correct answer: C. GH₵60
The discount is 25/100 × 80 = GH₵20. Subtract the discount from the original price: 80 − 20 = GH₵60. A 25% reduction leaves 75% of the original price.
QUESTION 3 · Geometry
Correct answer: B. 60°
The interior angles of a triangle add up to 180°. The two given angles total 55° + 65° = 120°. The third angle is 180° − 120° = 60°.
QUESTION 4 · Mensuration
Correct answer: C. 40 cm²
Area of a rectangle = length × width. Multiply 8 × 5 = 40 cm². Area uses square units; perimeter would measure the distance around the rectangle.
QUESTION 5 · Statistics
Correct answer: B. 7
Add the values: 4 + 6 + 8 + 10 = 28. There are four values, so the mean is 28 ÷ 4 = 7.
QUESTION 6 · Probability
Correct answer: D. 2/5
There are 3 + 2 = 5 balls altogether and 2 are blue. Probability = number of favourable outcomes ÷ total number of equally likely outcomes = 2/5.
MAKE YOUR REVISION COUNT
Start with a topic you find difficult. Review the method, attempt a question without checking the answer, and write every step in a notebook.
Compare your working with the explanation. Check signs, units and calculations. Try the question again later to see whether you understand the method.
Mix topics once you feel more confident. Use a clock to practise working at a steady pace, and review your answers afterwards alongside your class notes.
Core Maths revision covers more than these starter examples. Continue studying numbers, algebra, geometry, mensuration, statistics and probability with your teacher and syllabus. Objective practice helps you select answers; theory practice also needs clear working.
